The latest photos added to the gallery are of Miracle Strip Park. This is a small park located in Panama City Beach, Florida and is reminiscent of our old Pontchartrain Beach Amusement Park. This is the last season for this park, which is home to a classic wooden coaster called Starliner. Check out photos of this coaster and more photos of this soon to be defunct park.

Also added to the gallery are photos of Six Flags over Texas' Holiday in the Park from this past December. These photos capture this beautiful park decorated for the holidays during the day and night.

Photos from both of these parks come courtesy of
Tron. Photo captions come courtesy of Frontrider.

It's official. According to the Times Picayune, Six Flags New Orleans will not receive any new rides for 2004. Instead, they will concentrate on "asset maintenance". Also mentioned in the article was an increase in attendance by 165 percent from 2002 to 2003, exceeding projections. Check out the complete news article for more information.

Six Flags is getting a new Mardi Gras section. Six Flags Great America in Illinois that is. So, what does this have to do with SFNO? Just check out some of the names of the new rides: Jester's Wild Ride, King Chaos and Big Easy Balloons. They are even getting a new coaster named Ragin' Cajun (ala Pontchartrain Beach). They are expanding their existing New Orleans themed area. Does this mean that next year SFNO will add a Chicago themed section to the park with a signature coaster called "Sears Tower", the tallest coaster in America. We can wish can't we? Check out the complete news article for more information.

You can place your vote for SFNO.com at ckcoasters.com. Coaster Kingdom has plenty of photos and videos of Six Flags theme parks, including SFNO and a few independent parks. I highly recommend you check out their videos.

Back in late May I ran a two week series of "Then and Now" photos comparing SFNO "now" to Jazzland "then" from the 2000 season. To continue where I left off, I will be adding one "Then and Now" photo daily for the next 2 weeks to round out this series of photos. You can check out the first photo and subsequent photos by clicking on the "Then and Now" photo to the right.
